Sheeba is a fundraising venture for a charitable organisation in the Indian Himalayas.
A future and a hope
Located near Manali in Himachal Pradesh, Dar-ul-Fazl (House of Grace) is a Christian home which provides residential care for 90 boys and girls from disadvantaged backgrounds. The children are educated on-site at the Rainbow School, together with 60 day pupils from surrounding villages.
The cost of school fees in India means that the poorest families cannot afford to educate their children. Perversely, a modern education would, more than anything else, break the cycle of inherited poverty.
The home and school in Manali rely on the generosity of friends and supporters: people who understand that a small amount of money gives these children a future and a hope.
Sheeba is owned and managed by MJP Trading: a UK-based business, staffed by volunteers, that donates its profits to Dar-ul-Fazl.
Queen of Sheeba
The store name was inspired by the celebrated Queen of Sheeba. Very little is known about this mysterious woman and yet she holds a significant reputation in Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Referred to only by her title or nation, we don’t even know her name!
Probably from Ethiopia or the ancient kingdom of Saba (modern-day Yemen), Sheeba was dark-skinned, beautiful and alluring. Together with a great entourage, and bearing gifts of spices, gold and precious stones, she travelled north to test the famed wisdom of King Solomon.
Israel's King was captivated by her presence and many believe Sheeba is his lover as portrayed in the Bible’s Song of Songs. Her story has been immortalised in art, literature and music, as well as religious tradition.

And we hope these gifts impart some of the mystery and allure that surrounds the Queen of Sheeba.
